Will You Pass The “Interesting Test”?

Emily Being InterestingBy now you know that a man who leads an interesting life replete with way cool and exhilarating activities stands a much better chance of attracting desirable women than a guy who spends most of his time on the couch watching the tube and eating Cheetos.

This is much to the chagrin of probably 75% of all men out there, apparently. My inbox is stuffed with messages from guys who wonder aloud about HOW to “lead an exciting life”, be a “man of adventure” or simply, well…how to be more interesting in SOME non-complicated way.

In all fairness, many of us may already be more potentially intriguing and exciting to women than we think. Consider, for example, how easy it is for us as guys to compare ourselves to the highest-functioning men out there and make blanket judgment on the fly that we’re about as boring and “vanilla” as it gets.

I mean, every time you read about Sir Richard Branson he’s doing something new and devastatingly amazing. Wasn’t building an international record company, several airlines, flying hot air balloons, getting a private island and founding Virgin Galactic ENOUGH, already?

You get on Netflix and are confronted with Ewan McGregor riding through Africa on a BMW motorcycle. Most of us would be doing cartwheels to be cast as an extra in the next Star Wars film, but this guy was freaking Obi Wan Kenobi. The next thing you know, he’s going on round-the-world travel adventures.

But here’s the thing. Even THOSE guys spend plenty of “down time” doing mundane stuff. It’s just that the camera isn’t rolling during those times for obvious reasons.

Perhaps we fall into the trap of believing that we have to live like Steve Irwin or James Bond (who’s fictional, no less) or else we’re slackers.

Personally, I believe this mindset comes from the same place as the assumption that all beautiful women are wined and dined 24/7 and whisked off to exotic locations on private jets at least twice a week.

The first step is to relax. You can find paparazzi pics on the Internet of Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher going grocery shopping. If they don’t have to be Lara Croft and/or Indiana Jones, neither do you.

But make no mistake. You can’t be a chronic bump on a log, either. You have to exercise your ability to be interesting at least SOMETIMES, or the “adventure muscle” might atrophy.

So then, what yardstick does one use to figure out whether one is interesting ENOUGH to be at least potentially attractive to MOTOS (members of the other sex)?

Allow me to offer, for perhaps the first time ever, a simple, objective “Interesting Test” that should serve as the ultimate decision maker. Here are the ten questions, which you’ll notice are each based on lists of five:

1) Can you name 5 items you have crossed off your “bucket list”?

2) Could you introduce me to 5 really cool songs I probably haven’t heard before?

3) What are the 5 most outrageous adventures you’ve been on?

4) Where are the 5 most amazing places you’ve visited? (not necessarily far away)

5) Who are the 5 coolest people you’ve ever met?

6) What are the 5 best books you’ve ever read?

7) Do you have 5 unique talents? (aka “stupid human tricks”)

8) Can you recall 5 great stories from personal experience that can be told in under five minutes?

9) What are your 5 favorite things to do outside of work (other than watch television or surf the Internet)?

10) What are your five biggest dreams you’d like to accomplish?

At first, a list of five items may seem like a low number. It should be a “piece o’ cake”, right? Nevertheless, I have reason to suspect that most people would fail the “Interesting Test”.

But if you can PASS it, the rich reward is you can be reasonably sure that you’re truly interesting, or at the very least more exciting than you may have thought.

Now, you would think that with an average of 27,375 days to live, you can have five days where you met someone amazing, another five where you went somewhere amazing, and another five where you had an outrageous adventure.

The truth is that you don’t have to be a chronic adrenaline junky to be interesting. If you go surfing one or two days a year when you can get away, you’re still a surfer. If you get to one mountain bike race per season, you’re still a mountain bike racer. If you’ve only ever been to a handful of foreign lands, you’re still a world traveler.

Having the desire to be interesting is half the battle. Once you have that mindset, you’ll look forward to the next adventure. Over time, you’ll have far more than just five great stories to tell, and you’ll become ever more intriguing to EVERYONE, not just MOTOS.

By the way, if you want more on becoming a masterful storyteller, I happen to have a free PDF report for you on how to make it happen. It’s actually easy when you know how. Click Here To Get Your Hands On It.

Be Good,

Scot McKay

P.S. So what do you think? Does the “Interesting Test” hit the nail on the head, or did I forget something? How did you do…does the test tell you that you’re more exciting and intriguing than you may have thought…or otherwise?

Most of all, I’d LOVE to hear your very best answer (or three) from the test. Inspire us all with your dreams, talents and adventures. As always, you can expect me to jump into the conversation as well.

  1. A good test. This is something that all people can learn from, men and women. It isn’t necessarily about being able to go to far off lands or jumping out of an airplane. However if you have a passion for something to the point where you have a good skill or an interest in acquiring a skill in something outside of your work you will go some way to passing the interesting test.

Everything from woodworking to whitewater kayaking. The other key is open mindedness. The ability to able to say that you have given things a go, or being able to try something you have never tried before. If you are open minded about trying new things, and indeed have a desire to try new things, however mad or off the wall, you will gain those experiences and stories to tell.

Can’t swim? Learn to. Then take that to another level and try watersports that you may never have even thought of before.

Useless at cooking? Learn to. Think about it, a guy who couldn’t tell a chile from a tomato who suddenly gains a passion for cooking is interesting. A guy who was afraid to swim but now does watersports is interesting. A suited up business guy who makes wood sculptures in his spare time is interesting.

The key thing is that you need to get these experiences and passions from genuinely wanting to try things out and having an open mind to new experiences, not just because you think it will get you women. Do this stuff to develop your own outlook on life regardless of how it affects how women perceive you.

    1. Right on. Closed-minded people who are stuck in their ways are rarely interesting. And yes, the value of it all should absolutely transcend simply getting women.

  2. You know scot you’re right and well on point but do you know it takes money to lead a life that’s interesting, because for one not every country offers freedom to move most things where I’m from you have got to pay to do them,so there again lies a problem but its great advice and I would try my best to lead such a life. The Grenadian Boy

    1. While I’d agree that it takes $$$ to lead a Branson-esque life, quite a number of the ten factors I listed wouldn’t involve any money at all.

I’m curious, what country do you live in?

  3. How about:

    Are you a good listener?

Are you truly knowledgeable about ANYTHING that most people are ignorant about, or that most people are misinformed about?

    1. Both great points. Dale Carnegie would have probably put the first one you cited at the very top of his list.

  4. Hey,

I know this is off topic, but just wondering what program do you offer that allows me to have my e-mail read by and answered by you. Cause I bought both your programs online domination and the mans approach and had a few questions, but couldn’t get my questions answered.

Thanks Again, your programs have been helpful.

    1. Cool, man. I’m glad you’re enjoying both programs.

What you’re asking about is Power Sessions: https://www.bluesnap.com/jsp/buynow.jsp?contractId=2638670

It’s $27 per month and it’s exactly what you described. You ask me questions via e-mail and I’ll answer them personally within 24 hours.

There’s also lots of good, advanced content that I send you too.

  5. Five books? Just five? Five authors (though there’s certainly more I enjoyed) instead (in books there is no such thing as “best”)
    1. Jules Verne
    2. Mark Twain
    3. JRR Tolkien
    4. Charles Dicken
    5. Scott O’Dell

Places (similar to books and at least another two of your items there are more than five):
    1. Death Valley
    2. Kings Canyon
    3. Yosemite
    4. Sequoia
    5. Grand Canyon

Bucket list: at least one but probably not five. The trick is: do I have five items on my bucket list? I’m not actually sure of that.

Stories/5 min: possibly but it would take some thinking first (although two come to mind immediately).

Songs: depends on your kind of music but I imagine there would be at least some songs that musically are great (despite genre). Whether you heard them or not is of course another matter entirely.

Adventures: again, probably not five, at least not immediately, but definitely can think of a few.

People: Family members with fascinating life stories. More than five.

Five unique talents: Perhaps unless you mean only me (which I guess not – I never did feel the world revolved around people, especially not me, and I would be quite shocked if it somehow changed favourites). This includes being able to make people laugh no matter the circumstances including laughing at me (or something I say on the spot as I am very quick witted and everyone that knows me knows this from experience).

The others, dreams and favourite activities: I tend to not have many passions but the passions I do have I have an incredible amount of dedication (to/for). Consider it quality instead of quantity.

However, coming from everything that I have witnessed, I just simply wish as the actual feedback pile on that men and women remain on issue and don’t embark on a tirade associated with the news du jour.
